Weight Loss Surgeries

Robotic-Laparoscopic Gastric Bypass

The Roux-en-Y Gastric Bypass procedure is considered the "gold standard" weight loss approach for patients who have a BMI over 40. It is a wonderful way to remove excess weight and restore health.

During the Gastric Bypass procedure, a small pouch in the stomach is created and attached directly to the small intestine to limit food intake. This allows food to bypass the lower stomach and the first segment of the small intestine, resulting in reduced fat absorption and rapid weight loss.

This procedure is done laparoscopically at Lite Life Surgery, involving small incisions instead of a large surgical scar. Advantages of this procedure include less bleeding, reduced recovery time, decreased pain, and fewer chances of complications.

Robotic-Laparoscopic Sleeve Gastrectomy

Gastric Banding is the least invasive of all weight loss surgeries. There is no sectioning of the stomach or rerouting of the intestines, resulting in rapid recovery and reduced pain.

During Gastric Banding, an inflatable silicon band is wrapped into the upper portion of the stomach to create a new, tiny upper portion that fills up quickly, making patients feel full sooner. The band can be tightened or loosened by removing or adding fluid inside the band, allowing less or more food intake.

Laparoscopic Adjustable Gastric Banding

Sleeve Gastronomy is a restrictive surgery that limits the amount of food you can eat by reducing the size of your stomach. At Lite Life Surgery, it is done laparoscopically through small incisions in your stomach rather than open surgery.

During this procedure, 2/3 of the stomach is removed, reducing the size of the stomach to the shape and size of a banana. And since your stomach can hold less food, you will feel full sooner, resulting in rapid weight loss.

Sleeve Gastronomy is a good option for people who often travel or live in remote areas because it requires fewer follow-up appointments than gastric bypass and banding procedures.

Robotic-Laparoscopic Modified Duodenal Switch

Modified Duodenal Switch procedure is a combination of a Sleeve Gastrectomy and Gastric Bypass, which makes the path your food takes through your intestines shorter.

During this procedure, 2/3 of your stomach is removed (Gastrectomy) then small intestines are rerouted (Bypass), reducing the amount of calories your body absorbs. This surgical procedure showed the most weight loss compared to other methods. Another advantage is that you can eat as much food as you want. However, if fatty or greasy foods are overeaten (such as hamburgers and fries), you may experience diarrhea or excess intestinal gas.
